Indole-3-Carbinol is a sulfur-rich substance that we find in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and mustard vegetables. In the body, the acids from digestion convert Indole-3-Carbinol into the biologically active diindolylmethane, or DIM.
DIM has various functions in the body. The most important is its influence on the hormone balance: it balances various hormones. This applies to both men and women. For example, DIM is the strongest degrader of the hormone estrogen.
